This date and coconut crusted chocolate tart is dairy free, gluten free and very simple to make! You don't even need to cook it in the oven!
140g raw almonds
30g desiccated coconut
175 Medjool dates (pitted)
50g macadamia oil
100g raw cacao powder
50ml coconut oil
2 tbsp raw honey
To serve (optional)
1 tbsp shredded coconut
1 tbsp crushed peanuts
1 fresh fig
Blend the almonds in a food processor until the consistency looks like almond meal
Then add the dates, macadamia oil and shredded coconut to the food processor and blend until smooth. If the consistency is too dry, you can add a little bit of water.
Grease your tin with coconut oil
Using your fingers press the dough into the tin.
Put the crust in the freezer for 30 minutes
In a small saucepan, add the coconut oil. When the oil is melted add the cacao powder and the honey. Combine well.
Remove the crust from the freezer and add the chocolate mixture.
Put it in the fridge for 1 hour minimum
Serve it with coconut flakes, crushed peanuts and fig (optional)
Notes: It is still quite high in sugars essentially due to the Medjool dates, so even though it is a healthy tart as it only contains non-processed ingredients and real foods, it should be consumed in moderation.
